Installed into cylinder #4 is a sparkplug wire from the 034
HO coil kit
and in cylinder #3 is a coil wire from a 3B 20v.
As you can see the 034 wire is too tall. It does not allow
the center section
of the valve cover to be installed and tightened down, but the 3B wire does.
Another view of both wires installed.
Here you can see the difference in length.
034 Wire 3B Wire
Unfortunately changing over to the 3B wires is not just plug
and play.
The end of the wire that connects to the coil is not the same.
So, the coil end from the 034 wire must be transfered to the
3B wire.
The coil end of the 034 wire just pulls off with a little twisting.
You must then pull off the metal connector and spread the crimp.
The coil end of the 3B wire also just pulls off with a little
twisting.
There will be no wire showing, so you must strip back the insulation
about 1/2". This is also a good time to trim all the wires to the correct
length.
This length will depend on where you have the coils installed.
Then bend the bare wire back over itself and slide on the
metal connector from the 034 sparkplug wire. Make sure you have
the bare wire on the opposite side of the crimp. Then re-crimp the connector.
After you have the connector crimped back on you can install the 034 boot onto the 3B wire.
